Terraria Fishing Terraria Guide

fishing terraria

Fishing is one of the many side activities that players can partake in within Terraria. It can be a great way to make extra money and also level up your character’s equipment, but it can also provide other resources such as food and potions. However, to make the most of fishing, it’s important to have high enough fishing power. The higher this is, the more crates and rare items you can get. To increase your fishing power, you can either craft it, trade for it or get it from the Angler NPC’s quests.

To start fishing, you will need a fishing rod and bait. You can fashion a wooden fishing rod with eight wood, or you can find better poles through crafting, trading, receiving them as quest rewards, or getting them in chests. The bait you use is important as well, and can be crafted from a number of materials including bugs and worms. There are several types of fish in Terrara, and each has its own unique requirements for catching them. The most common fish can be caught in water, honey, or lava, while others need to be caught at specific biomes and at certain heights.

The fishing terraria mechanic in the game can be very rewarding, but to get the best catches (and not countless bass that fill your inventory and only have a few uses such as Joja Cola) you will need to make sure you have high enough fishing power. This can be increased through a variety of methods, such as crafting items that boost it, or by simply logging in at morning (4:30am) or just before dusk (6pm).

You should always try to catch fish when it’s raining, and at night when the moon is out. This will give you the best chance of catching rare and tier 10 crates. For instance, the tier 10 crates in ocean biomes have a chance of containing a Zephyr fish that can be used for cooking or to gain a new weapon in the game.

For pre-Hardmode beginners, fishing is a very profitable activity, as it provides a decent amount of money and equipment, while also providing some useful resources such as potions, food, mobility improvement assortments, and even a pet fish. In mid-Hardmode, however, the profitability of fishing begins to decrease due to other money-making options, enemy drops, and advancing equipment.

The best time to fish is in an oasis water well/pond when it’s raining and just before dusk. This will give you a +30% fishing boost. This is also the best place to catch a variety of fish such as the Neon Tetra that can be cooked, Double Cod and Variegated Lardfish which are ingredients for potion-making, and Frog Legs which can be used to improve your character’s movement speed. It’s also the only place to get Jungle and Bramble crates in the game. Using this method, you can easily catch up to a max of 3 tier 10 crates in a single day.
